• Hiriketiya bay is just amazing! Clear blue water, a broad white sandy beach fringed with palmtrees and a tropical backland make it look like an idyllic scene from a postcard. As the main road is far away from the bay, it is very quiet and without a lot of traffic so you can enjoy your well deserved peace during your holiday.
• The bay is perfect for surfers. There are no strong currents and there are pretty incredible waves every day. It doesn´t matter if you are a total beginner or a passionate and experienced surfer, thanks to a lot of different breaks in the bay, everyone can find the perfect spot.
• Imagine sitting on a beach at the end of a beautiful day, toes in the sand and watching the waves? Sounds like a dream? You can live that dream in one of Hiriketiya´s many beach bar´s with a cold cocktail in your hands.
• A lot of different events like live music, beach-parties or international DJ acts are held in Hiriketiya all year round – so there´s no shortage of fun and entertainment. But still, if you just want to relax and have some peace, a 5-minute stroll brings you back to our hostel where you can enjoy exactly this. Everything is in walking distance.
• The singalese kitchen is beautiful, diversified and mouthwateringly flavourful. In/close to Hiriketiya you can find a few singalese restaurants to try these local dishes. But if you´re feeling homesick at some stage, craving for some Burgers, Pizza or Pasta there are also a lot of places to help you with that.
• If you´re looking for a varied beach holiday Hiriketiya is the place to be. Drinking a coconut on the beach, enjoying the beautiful water while swimming in Hiriketyia bay, snorkeling or surfing, do a little walk through the village, enjoy some of the best fresh seafood or dancing the night away – all of this you can experience here!! You only want to spend a few days in Hiriketiya? Be careful with saying that, it can get many more in no time….we heard a lot of stories about this happening J
• As Hiriketiya has a manageable size it happens pretty quickly that you´ll know all the people around – the shopkeeper, the neighbours or other travelers, you´ll get to know them within a few days and dive into the familial atmosphere of Hiriketiya.
• If you´re sick of relaxing and peace, Hiriketiya is the perfect starting point to go on some trips into the surrounding areas. Mystical temples, lively towns like Matara, Tangalle or Galle, different palm tree fringed beaches, national parks which sometimes make you feel like being somewhere in Africa, whale watching tours or a tropical and rural backland are within good reach and invite you to experience some of the wonders of Sri Lanka.
